Microwaves & Fission
I've been doing more research into this only to discover that all one needs to create a fusion reaction is a high powered microwave. The neutron radiation required to cause a fission reaction are also readily created by microwaves. Microwaves can create plasmas and plasmas can be a source of free neutrons.
It is clearly more complicated than this, and technically you need other material which when bombarded with neutrons is prone to a fission reaction. It is however not surprising that neutrons can be generated using microwaves. I am still uncertain what materials you technically need to create a fusion reaction, although I am suspicious it can happen with only hydrogen.
